Like many, I have several hobbies. You all know my biggest one...drinking wi-...NO, photography, of course. I've loved holding a camera since I was a kid. Finding every single stinkin thing there is to learn or try or do with a camera is more like an obsession at times. Love is definitely the right word for how I feel about this hobby.
Of course I have other hobbies, Candy Crush being pretty high on the list. C'mon, you know you do it too. Faebook, Twitter, Pinterest...do those all count?
A hobby I used to enjoy a lot was sewing. I learned a lot during the years that I sewed into the late night hours until I couldn't see straight anymore. The biggest thing I learned through exploring this hobby was that I truly love a challenge. I could sew the same thing over and over until I had it perfected and could whip out a dress in an hour. But, it was the request for an item I've never made before that lit a fire in me. It was exciting to learn something new and then have the power, the drive, the knowledge to create it and know that I could do it again.
Sometimes we choose hobbies that relax us. Like doing thousand piece puzzles. Coloring. Scrapbooking. Paint by number. Journaling.
Sometimes the hobbies we choose change over time. Remember when Sudoku was all the rage?
I've noticed that my oldest son likes to draw, much like I used to at his age. He is very determined and critical. Also, like me.
Art can be very therapeutic. So this weeks photo submission isn't my hobby...but it was at one time...
Next week: Rule Of Thirds
