Deciding on a subject this week was something I really took time to consider. Happiness means something different for everybody.
For some (me), happiness can mean sleeping in on a Saturday morning and having a quiet moment with a hot cup of coffee while your house sleeps. That's my dream happiness. Mmm...coffee happiness.
Happiness might depend on your age. When you're 18 months old, happiness can mean food. Food makes my daughter so stinkin happy. She discovers something new every day that fascinates her. Kids seem to be happy all the time or for many reasons, not just one. My boys are happy while on their dirt bikes, having a tickle fight or eating cake. Happiness seems to come easy for kids.
As an adult, happiness comes in many forms. Love makes us so crazy happy at times that we act like those twitterpated birds in Bambi...at least in the spring...everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. Love, money, possessions, family, achievement, winning the lottery. Lots of things make us happy as well. Some only temporarily. Sometimes we think something will make us happy only to find out we were wrong. Being happy as an adult is much more complicated apparently.
Puppies. Now, puppies make everyone happy. They just do. Especially when you're not the one to clean up after them. So.Much.Happiness. (Yes, this is a hint, no, we are not getting a puppy.)
So I took this week to reflect on what makes ME happy. After all, this is my project and with everyone's interpretation of happiness being something different, mine is all I can know for sure. My happiness comes in big and small ways.
Happiness is hearing my kids giggling. Happiness is toasting my favorite bread just right and sipping some delicious coffee as I work on my blog. Happiness is the love of a man. Happiness is sneaking a Reese's when no one is looking. Happiness is support from family and friends when you need it the most. Happiness is a big blanket hot out of the dryer. Happiness is a funny message from a friend when you're having a bad day. Happiness is celebrating a 90th birthday with someone very special. Happiness is living life the way you feel you were meant to. Happiness is freedom.
So to sum up what happiness is in just one photo? Eek. Tough one. So I decided to go with what happiness is to me today. Today...happiness is...
